Aaliyah Daniel Haughton shot to fame in 1994 after the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing but A Numer. When she was just 15 the album was awarded Gold status. This collaboration, heavily influenced R. Kelly's music, made her a star. In 1996 she worked alongside Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to release her second album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If You Only Knew. Aaliyah became a household name as an R&B artist following the release of her second album, One In A Million. In 2000, she co-starred with the martial arts icon Jet Li for the film Romeo Must Die. Her role came about when she was spotted by the film's director Joel Silver at an awards show. She was in 2002 when she appeared as in the Anne Rice-based thriller Queen of the Damned. She is the first generation Indian-American born and raised in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. It is an acronym for Mankad her surname when she married. Aarti Magnumdar, her formal name. However, she is also known as Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. She began her acting career in minor film and TV performances, but her fame increased in the mid 2000s. In addition, she has appeared on Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. In addition, she has appeared in commercials for big companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. The actress currently resides at Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting career.
