Selena Y Los Dinos would become popular throughout the western states in the 1980s. Selena's first success came in 1986 when she won awards as Female Vocalist of the Year and as a Performer of The Year at the Tejano music awards. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to be among the winners of the Tejano music awards as well as gaining notoriety and fame. The group was featured in a number of shows in Spanish, including El Show De Johnny Canales as well as Siempre En Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
